Lovely Library Things

My name is Sarah. I’m a 25-year-old children’s librarian, and this is my tumblr!

While I mainly post about my programs, this is also a space for me to throw thoughts, pictures, and articles that have anything to do with libraries, books, education, etc.

Or, you know, just things that amuse, delight, and/or enrage me.

If you’ve got any questions, feel free to shoot me an ask. I’d love to hear from you!

Programing over school breaks is difficult. Some kids have friends and family come in from out of town, but most of our community is made up of vacationers. Our regulars jet, and you never know who is going to come in.

We’ve had great success during past vacation weeks by putting out a (generously donated) train table in the Children’s Room. Expanding on the success of the train table, we tried something new one day over the February break: A Library Playdate!

The program room was filled with homemade play dough, Legos, toy planes, trains & cars, books, and at the last minute I slapped a duct tape hop scotch board on the ground!

We didn’t get the huge numbers we like to see, but the 30 or so people who came were thrilled. Many asked if the room was being turned into a playroom permanently. Hahahaha, no sorry. But the playdate will be making a comeback someday. :]
